China plans to triple AI chip output in 2026

PLUS: How to build software faster with Qoder’s agentic coding features

Good morning, AI enthusiasts. China is racing to counter US chip restrictions by massively ramping up its domestic AI chip production.

PLUS: How to build software faster with Qoder’s agentic coding features

Chinese chipmakers are ramping up efforts to boost domestic AI chip production as the US tightens restrictions on Nvidia’s most advanced processors. New fabs dedicated to Huawei’s AI chips are set to come online this year and next, with combined capacity projected to exceed that of SMIC, China’s current top chipmaker.

→ Three new plants focused on Huawei’s processors launching by 2026

→ SMIC plans to double 7nm chip output next year

→ DeepSeek pushing adoption of FP8 data format for Chinese chips to boost efficiency

→ CXMT preparing to launch HBM3 memory, just one generation behind Samsung & Micron

Why is important: The US has tried to choke off China’s access to Nvidia’s top processors, but this push shows Beijing is betting on building its own ecosystem. By aligning chipmakers, AI startups like DeepSeek, and state-backed funding, China could reduce its reliance on US tech and build a parallel AI hardware market, one optimized for its own models, standards, and ambitions.

Nvidia reported Q2 revenue of $46.7B, topping Wall Street estimates ($46.05B) and setting another all-time sales record. Net income hit $25.8B with EPS of $1.05, both beating forecasts. Data center revenue alone contributed $41.1B, cementing Nvidia’s dominance in the AI hardware race.

→ Partnership signals Meta’s push to catch up with OpenAI and Google in generative AI

→ Data center sales drove 88% of total revenue

→ Shares dipped 4% after-hours despite strong result

Why is important: Nvidia remains the undisputed backbone of the AI boom, powering nearly every major model. Its growth signals AI demand isn’t slowing down, but China’s restrictions could test Nvidia’s global dominance.

How to build software faster with Qoder’s agentic coding features

Qoder is a new AI-powered coding platform from China that feels less like autocomplete and more like a real collaborator. Instead of throwing random snippets, it understands your entire project and helps you code, refactor, and even test with precision.

🧰 Who is this for

  • Developers building multi-file applications

  • Startups prototyping fast without hiring big teams

  • Open-source contributors handling constant changes

  • Learners who want guided, hands-on help while coding

STEP 1: Download and Install Qoder

To start, you’ll first need to install coder in your device.

Head over to Qoder and grab the installer. Once downloaded, double-click the file to install.

When installation finishes, launch Qoder by clicking the IDE icon on your desktop. You’ll land in the main dashboard, ready to sign in.

STEP 2: Setup Qoder

In the top-right corner of the IDE, click the user icon (or press ⌘ ⇧ , on macOS / Ctrl ⇧ , on Windows). This opens a sign-in page.

  • If you’re new, select Sign Up and complete registration

  • Or connect directly with your Google or GitHub account

Once signed in, the free trial activates, and you’ll have access to all of Qoder’s core features.

STEP 3: Open a Project

Now you’re all set.

You can start with your own code or explore a GitHub repo.

  • To work locally: press ⌘ O (macOS) or Ctrl O (Windows), browse your files, and select a project folder.

  • To clone from GitHub: click Clone repo, paste a project URL, or choose Clone from GitHub and follow the prompts.

Your project will load into the IDE, showing all files in Qoder’s explorer.

STEP 4: Explore Core AI Features

Inline Chat

Highlight code, press ⌘ I (macOS) or Ctrl I (Windows), and ask for changes directly in context. For example: “Add a check so that if email is empty, it shows an alert "Email is required.” Press ⌘ ⏎ or Ctrl Enter to apply edits directly.

AI Chat

For broader requests, press ⌘ L (macOS) or Ctrl L (Windows). In the chat panel, ask for new features, refactoring, or tests. Example: “Generate unit tests for this function and run them.” Qoder will draft test cases and let you execute them instantly.

STEP 5: Try Quest Mode

When you’re ready to push further, switch to Quest Mode. Instead of piecemeal edits, simply describe a larger task, “Add team collaboration with notifications.”

Qoder agents will plan, code, and test the feature end-to-end, delivering a polished result.

To try it, just hit “Quest Mode” from the sidebar or press Ctrl +L.
